Pilar sees individuals, couples and families, and works online only.

I'm a licensed associate in Marriage and Family therapy in NJ with a deep passion for supporting individuals, couples, and families through life's challenges. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 12 years as a first responder, where I've witnessed firsthand the critical need for mental health support and advocacy. This experience led me to this field, where I strive to be an ally for those in need to find their voice, their strength and accomplish their goals.
Currently, I provide trauma informed care to survivors of sexual and domestic violence, allowing me to support diverse populations. I'm familiar with topics such as: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self esteem, intimacy issues, sexual/domestic violence, LGBTQIA+ topics.
My main techniques are Structural Family Therapy (SFT) and Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT). SFT focuses on the interactions and organization within a family. EFT is a short-term, evidence-based approach that focuses on improving emotional bonds and attachment security in relationships.
My goals are to provide a compassionate and open space where you feel heard, understood and empowered. I believe that every person has the ability to heal and grow when given the right tools and guidance.
